EXPRESSIVE WRITING WORKSHOPS

Art is my cure to all this madness, sadness and loss of belonging in the world & through it I’ll walk myself home. ~ Nikki Rowe

What Is Expressive Writing

Expressive writing is a form of written self-expression that encourages individuals to put their thoughts and emotions onto paper without concern for grammar, spelling, or structure. It is a therapeutic and reflective practice that can be used for personal growth, emotional healing, and self-discovery. The primary goal of expressive writing is to explore and process one’s feelings, thoughts, and experiences in a safe and private space.

Overall, expressive writing can be a powerful tool for promoting emotional well-being, self-discovery, and personal growth, making it a valuable practice for individuals seeking to understand themselves better and navigate life’s challenges.

On Sunday, February 2, 2025, Erica from Open Sky Stories and Kristen from TRX Pilates will guide you through a unique retreat that combines journaling and gentle movement to create an experience of embodied writing.

Together, we’ll use goal-setting practices that focus on how you want to feel in the year ahead, rather than just ticking items off a list. Through a carefully designed workbook filled with guided journaling prompts, we’ll explore self-compassion, clarity, and creativity.

The day will also include gentle stretches and mindful movement designed to release tension, inspire reflection, and deepen your connection to your body and mind. Think of it as a self-renewal retreat—a moment to focus on your well-being and your writing in a meaningful, grounded way.

While this retreat is just ahead of Valentine’s Day, it’s not about hearts and roses; it’s about showing up for yourself in a real, supportive way. We’re keeping things practical, with plenty of warmth and encouragement to nurture your creative and personal growth.

Whether you’re new to journaling, movement, or both, Words in Motion is a welcoming space to stretch, reflect, and set intentions for the year ahead.
